“Excavated objects from Vashnaveh, Iran”
Vashnaveh is located in the western part of the central plateau of Iran, 35 km south of Qom.
In 2001, the excavations of the joint archaeological research expedition of Iran (Cultural Heritage Organization of Iran - Tehran) and Germany (German Museum of Mining - Bochum) resulted in the discovery of some objects made of pottery, wood, glass, and jewelry, which were kept in water.
The site includes ancient mines, named by the Joint Board, "Chaleh Ghar mine 1", and "Chaleh Ghar mine 2".
The examination of the objects showed that the site was a holy place for ritual ceremonies. In addition, it was considered one of the oldest copper mines dating back to 800 BC.
The information about the excavated objects and related events in this site has been published by the Iranian and German researchers in the fourth volume of the series entitled "Archäologische Mitteilungen aus Iran und Turan" (English-German) published by Dietrich Reamer Publications in 2011.
The purpose of the implementation of the “Excavated objects from Vashnaveh, Iran” database in Qoqnus, is recording the information about the excavated objects and the excavating events in the site based on CIDOC CRM. This database is the implementation section of the Ph.D. research project defined at Kharazmi University and the University of Cologne.
